MEET DR. ARAMBULA
Dr. Joaquin Arambula
Emergency Room Physician, Dedicated Public Servant, Father of Three
Dr. Joaquin Arambula is the first Latino physician elected to the California Assembly. He has served in the State Assembly since April of 2016. He has proudly represented the 31st Assembly District, which has included over 60 percent of the City of Fresno and rural cities in Fresno County.
As an emergency room doctor, he trained in downtown Fresno and worked in a rural hospital in Selma, CA for almost a decade. There, he saw the emotional and financial toll on people struggling with illnesses that access to health care could have prevented. He was determined to improve health care for everyone.
Dr. Arambula served as Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee No. 1 on Health and Human Services from 2016 to June 2023. He has focused on improving health care access and affordability and ensuring the protection of safety net programs for working families. He has authored the “Health4All” bills, known as Assembly Bill 4, that have expanded full scope Medi-Cal coverage to all undocumented adults. He also increased access to Medi-Cal for seniors and the disabled.
He also is a staunch advocate of efforts to address the critical statewide shortage of doctors and medical providers, specifically in the Central Valley.
